South Carolina Ports investing in resilience
South Carolina Ports is reinforcing its reputation for reliability with fast operations and new infrastructure. Charleston offers 24/7 vessel access thanks to the deepest port on the US East Coast. Trucks average 35-minute turnaround times and two inland rail hubs ensure access to the broader Southeast.
In May, SC Ports handled 219,255 teu (+22%) and set a new monthly rail record at inland port Greer. To keep pace with growing volumes, SC Ports has approved a USD 294 million capital plan for FY2026 to expand the Leatherman Terminal and finalise the Navy Base Intermodal Facility, now 80% complete.
