Southwest Airlines welcomes Brian Kilburn as cargo vice-president

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines has appointed Brian Kilburn (pictured) as its new vice-president of cargo, provisioning and ground support equipment activities, succeeding industry veteran Wally Devereaux, who retired in March after more than 30 years with the airline.

Devereaux, an iconic figure in the logistics community, joined Southwest in 1992 and led its cargo operations from 2022, playing a key role in customer-focused digital transformation and service expansion.

Kilburn brings a decade of experience at Southwest with him, most recently leading the firm’s ‘Integrated Operations Planning Team’. A graduate of Harvard Business School, Kilburn also served in the Navy and worked in the financial sector. His appointment marks a generational transition at the helm of one of the most prominent US domestic air cargo carriers. (ah)
