Southwest expands cargo hub in Denver
Southwest Airlines Cargo has opened a new 2,800 m² facility at Denver airport (DEN), nearly doubling its previous footprint there.
The expanded site offers six loading docks, larger storage areas, and double the refrigerated capacity, aiming to serve Denver’s growing freight needs. The airline currently operates nearly 300 daily flights at DEN to more than 90 destinations.
The new building supports Southwest’s broader infrastructure investments in the region, which include a new training centre, a maintenance hangar and an upcoming 9,300 m² provisioning facility.
Raymond H. Gonzales, president of the Metro Denver EDC and EVP of the Denver Metro Chamber, is convinced that "this facility represents more than growth for Southwest — it's a boost for Colorado's entire business community. Faster, more reliable cargo access strengthens our supply chain, empowers small businesses and fuels their ability to compete." (ah)
