Strategy paper for modal shift
The canton of Zurich (Switzerland) is proposing a freight transport and logistics concept (GVLK) to promote efficient and sustainable freight transport.
In particular, the concept, which has a planning horizon of 2040, includes securing the necessary locations for transhipment facilities and supporting innovations in logistics.
The strategy paper is intended to develop measures for a further shift of transports to the railways and for the enforcement of legal requirements for the mandatory rail transport of excavated material and gravel at large construction sites. The Zurich government will set up a freight transport and logistics coordination office to implement the concept. (ben)
