Biebergemünd-based workwear brand Strauss has won the German Logistics Award 2025 for its project "Logistics Next Level", presented at the BVL Supply Chain CX in Berlin. The award recognises the company’s successful revitalisation of its logistics centre while operations continued — an alternative to a more carbon-intensive new build.
By upgrading its existing 1990s facility instead of replacing it, Strauss cut CO₂ emissions by 26,000 t and invested EUR 55 million entirely from its own funds. The project doubled shipping capacity, reduced throughput times from four hours to 40 minutes and lowered error rates by 80%. Staff participation played a key role, with employees helping to redesign shifts, break times and workplaces. Efficiency gains even enabled a reduction of weekly working hours to 37.5 with full pay.
Finalists Siemens and Tchibo were also recognised for pioneering digital and circular logistics concepts. (ah)
