Strengthening Italy/Africa trade links

Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) is expanding its network to West Africa as trade and travel between Italy and the region grow. Weekly flights by Neos to Dakar, Boa Vista and Sal, and by Cabo Verde Airlines to Sal, support not only family connections but also commercial exchange.

West African markets such as Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria and Ivory Coast are key partners under Italy’s Mattei Plan for Africa, which promotes cooperation in energy, agriculture and manufacturing. BGY’s location at the centre of Italy’s largest West African diaspora makes it a natural gateway for goods and passengers. With rising demand for imports and exports of machinery, food and natural resources, the airport is working with airlines to assess further routes to Dakar and Lagos to strengthen business and trade links.
