Strong year again for HK's major air cargo handler
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) – Hong Kong's major, independent cargo handler – ended 2014 with its strongest quarter of the year, handling 491,476 t (up 4.9% on Q4/2013). Q4/2014 was also the best of the year for exports (287,456 t, up 4.2% on 2013), imports (131,202 t, up 7.7%) and for mail and express (41,558 t, down 2.2%). Transhipments totalled 31,261 t (up 11.1%, but Q4 was only the third highest quarter of 2014).
For full year 2014, Hactl's total tonnage rose by 8.7% to reach over 1.8 million t. Exports increased by 6.7% to just over 1 million t, import volumes grew by 10.3% to slightly under 500,000 t, transhipments leapt by 28.6% to 130,834 t, and mail/express traffic rose by 3.1% to 149,655 t.
