Supply chains under cyber pressure

Cyberattacks are increasingly targeting freight forwarders, shippers and insurers. At the Timocom ThekenTalks, experts shared lessons from ransomware, identity theft and fake carriers, as the company recently reported.

For Saint-Gobain, a 2017 cyberattack was a turning point—since then, it has trained staff, improved crisis routines and values daily backups, as Martin Krumhaar, the head of freight management and service warehouses at Saint-Gobain, reported.

Speakers from DSLV, Schunck, Ansorge and MC Bauchemie called for board-level attention to data security, awareness training and strict partner checks.

One conclusion is that "those who bear responsibility in the supply chain must also take responsibility in the digital space", according to Timocom's head of development of future-oriented market strategies, Gunnar Gburek (pictured). (js)
