Suspected sabotage targeting freight logistics

Germany’s Federal Prosecutor has confirmed the arrest of three Ukrainian nationals suspected of espionage and attempted sabotage targeting freight logistics. The individuals—Vladyslav T., Daniil B., and Yevhen B.—were arrested in Cologne, Constance, and the Swiss canton of Thurgau between 9 and 13 May.

The suspects are accused of planning arson and explosive attacks on freight transport in Germany. Allegedly acting under Russian orders, they tested shipment routes by sending GPS-equipped trial parcels, with plans to mail incendiary or explosive devices to recipients in Ukraine.

German authorities have charged them with espionage for sabotage purposes and preparing serious arson and explosive crimes. The investigation, led by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), is being handled by the Federal Public Prosecutor due to its national significance. Extradition proceedings for Yevhen B. are ongoing. (ah)
