Sustainability rating for bremenports


The company running the ports of Bremen, bremenports, has published its sixth sustainability report in hard copy and online. The report is certified by TÜV Nord and presents the company’s activities in the fields of economic performance, environment, society and labour practices for the years 2017/2018.

 

For the first time, this latest edition also includes the “sustainable development goals” specified by the United Nations. Amongst others, the ports of Bremen have succeeded in reducing carbon emissions by 70%compared with 2011, when emissions amounted to more than 7,000 t of CO2.

 

Moreover, over the last ten years, the share of rail in hinterland traffic has risen from 41.3% to 46.4%, while the share of road traffic has decreased from 56.0% to 50.5%.

 

With regards to corporate culture, it is noteworthy that the share of employees who left the company of their own accord is very low (less than 2%). (mw)
