Swedish trains now run to Italy

The biggest rail transport deal for the European paper industry goes to DB Cargo: Since 2013, the German freight railroad has been a partner for ScandFibre Logistics (SFL), a logistics provider for the Swedish paper industry and part of the European supply chain linking Swedish paper mills with twelve European countries.

DB Cargo transports 1.2 million t of paper from Malmö, Sweden, to central and southeast Europe every year. The cooperation has been running in a smaller version called System Rail17 since December 2016.

Now SFL and DB Cargo have expanded the concept to Rail22, which also includes transports to/from Italy. From December 2021, DB Cargo will thus take over the transport of more than 7,000 wagons to and from Italy per year as part of its single wagon network. (ben)
