Swiss World Cargo adapts

After reducing its schedule to 40 flights a week to eight European destinations and three weekly flights to New York EWR, Swiss International Airlines parks 24 of its A320 family aircraft in Dübendorf. Other aircraft, particularly those of the long-haul fleet, are parked at Zurich airport.

Swiss has also suspended its services to Osaka (photo) which were launched at the beginning of the month and postponed (to 2 June) the resumption of flights to Washington IAD that was scheduled for this weekend. But Swiss World Cargo, Swiss's airfreight division, is helping to maintain global cargo flows.

With immediate effect, Swiss will be using its PAX aircraft to perform pure cargo flights. Two A340-300 have already departed for Hong Kong this week, with further such flights currently being planned, and the carrier's RFS network remains unaffected. (ah)
