Swissport boosts Basel base
Swissport has added 800 sqm of warehouse capacity at the Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg EuroAirport (EAP / BSL), to meet rising demand, especially for pharmaceutical exports. In 2024, Swissport handled more than 47,000 t of cargo at the site.
The expansion enhances routing flexibility and supports Swissport’s CO₂ reduction strategy. Streamlined customs processes with both Swiss and French authorities also improve last-mile efficiency.
Basel’s 'cool+connect' pharmaceuticals centre, certified under Iata’s Ceiv Pharma standard, ensures safe handling of temperature-sensitive goods and reduces handling times by up to 70%.
Swissport managed a record 5 million t of airfreight worldwide in 2024. (ah)
