System Alliance Europe on a new footing

After a change of legal status, the European groupage cargo cooperation System Alliance Europe (SAE), Düsseldorf (Germany), is opening up to new members. A few weeks ago, SAE transformed from a civil-law partnership into a registered cooperative.

Now that all the current 45 network partners have joined the new cooperative as members, SAE wishes to enable "partners a quick and easy access to our cooperative," SAE chairman Oliver Rüte, said. The aim is to expand the partner network to around 100 member companies by the end of next year.

Instead of focusing on a general common interest, SAE now positions itself as a service provider that offers independent, medium-sized member companies access to digital applications and standardised processes.

Hub and pivot of System Alliance Europe is the cloud-based IT platform Log-IT, which also allows third parties to use functionalities such as continuous tracking of consignments and definition of the expected time of arrival (ETA).

To date, SAE is a groupage cargo cooperation organised on a cooperative basis comprising 45 medium-sized, owner-managed transport and logistics providers with a total of 44,000 employees and 144 branches in 29 European countries.

In 2020, the network that was founded in 2005 processed roughly 4 million consignments and a total of 1.5 million t of groupage cargo. (sh)
