To Mars and beyond for GW
Gebrüder Weiss is working with the Austrian Space Forum (ÖWF) for the second time. The current project is a transport of equipment for the Mars Analogue Mission from Innsbruck to Armenia.
According to Gernot Grömer, ÖWF’s director, this involves technologies "on the edge of feasibility", the result of years of research work. Gebrüder Weiss is also making a test site near Vienna available to ÖWF, which will allow it to rehearse the process once again before the equipment is transported to the mission site in Armenia at the end of January 2024.
In this "dress rehearsal", the astronauts and the other participants go through all the procedures again. The equipment will then be loaded, transported, and prepared in Armenia for the start of the mission on 7 March 2024. (mk)
