Topsy-turvy world

As Russia and many other countries celebrate Christmas only today and tomorrow, 6/7 January 2020, we are already looking back to the pre-Christmas freight services performed by an airline whose native country is now enjoying the height of the summer season.

Air New Zealand's cargo team worked with meat producers and exporters from around the country to send meat to international markets, including more than 1,000 t of lamb to the UK. Fruit and vegetables were also in huge demand with 3,200 t of capsicums and tomatoes heading to Japan and 1,900 t of blueberries, capsicums and tomatoes on the way to Australia.

Global manager cargo sales Alex Larsen: "We play a key role for the nation's export industry, carrying meat and fresh fish such as salmon and crayfish, as well as fruit and vegetables to countries around the world." (ah)
