Train carrying wood fibre from Linz to China
The logistics service provider Cargo-Partner was asked by the international fibre manufacturer Lenzing to organise a blocktrain from Linz (Austria) to Qingdao (China). The transport carrying sustainably-produced wood fibre on the ‘iron Silk Road’ will arrive at its destination in Xi’an (China) after 16 days. It set out on Friday 9 October 2020.
The blocktrain is made up of 46 40 ft containers that were hauled to the Lenzing and Heiligenkreuz railway terminals by lorry, and then transferred to the train there. The fibres are the basis for a number of textile and nonwoven fabric applications. (ben)
