Trial railfreight service between Tilburg and Changsha
Today (16 August), the Dutch GVT Group and Hunan Xiangou Express (China) are introducing a test freight train from China to the Netherlands. The shuttle is operated by Chengdu International Railway Services (CDIRS) in partnership with GVT.
If the test is successful, the new freight train will provide a weekly connection between Changsha and Tilburg. In September 2016, CDIRS already launched the Chengdu-Tilburg-Rotterdam Express that transits Kazakhstan and Moscow in 15. That train offers a 40 container capacity.
The test train has bigger capacity (50 containers) and will run along the northern route via Manzhouli to Russia. The shuttle will cover the 12,912 km long stretch in 17 days. (ben)
