Turkish fruit to Moscow by train

Russian Railways (RZD) and Maersk have organised a shipment of refrigerated containers loaded with imported fruit and vegetables as part of a container train moving from Novorossiysk to Moscow in Russia.

Twelve forty-foot containers carrying fresh fruit from Turkey arrived at the NUTEP Container Terminal in Novorossiysk on 18 December 2020. The shipment then left for Selyatino station by rail on 21 December and arrived at its destination on 23 December.

It is planned that from January 2021, imported fruits will now be dispatched weekly by rail from Novorossiysk to Moscow. As a result, a seamless cold chain will be organised to supply fresh products from dispatchers in the Eastern Mediterranean to consumers in Russia’s central region, RZD said. (ben)
