Twelve blades from India

The "MV Superfast Levante", a ro-ro vessel sailing under the Spanish flag and chartered by Consignaciones Toro y Betolaza, called at the Cuxport terminal in Cuxhaven for the first time in mid-November. Since then, the service has been frequenting the port on a regular schedule.

On behalf of the Nordex Acciona Group, the 158 m long ship is currently transporting twelve rotor blades from Tuticorin in India to Cuxhaven. The feed into the road network takes place without police escort.

"A heavy goods road leads through the roundabout at the end of the motorway about 1.5 km away, which means that the heavy goods transport quickly reaches the A27," explains Roland Schneider, business developer at Cuxport.

The terminal’s multimodal links were a decisive argument in favour of choosing Cuxport as a major hub for this service. On the way back, containers and mafi roll/trailers are transported onto the ship by ro-ro facility, thus avoiding empty runs. (sh)
