Two prime ministers meet at the Rijeka Gateway

Mette Frederiksen, the prime minister of Denmark, and her opposite number from Croatia, Andrej Plenković, met at the Rijeka Gateway terminal in Croatia on 6 March. According to Koen Benders, the CEO of the Rijeka Gateway, which is under construction, the project is in line with the company’s “ambitious decarbonisation roadmap” and, in a wider perspective, represents an important step forward for Europe. That's why the Danish prime minister started her working visit to Croatia in Rijeka.

The terminal will feature remote-controlled electrical container handling equipment and is expected to create more than 1,100 direct jobs in Croatia, of which more than 300 will be in the new terminal, once it opens in Q2/2025. Total investments by 2026 by Maersk, Enna Logic and Rijeka Gateway are expected to come to more than EUR 480 million.
