UAE rail network linked to Abu Dhabi freight hub
Etihad Rail in UAE has completed the rail link between the railfreight terminal at the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (Icad) and the UAE National Rail Network.
The company has finished laying tracks and conducting successful tests on the new line, which extends from the borders of Saudi Arabia to the port of Fujairah, on the eastern coast, passing through key manufacturing hubs and urban centres.
Spanning over 250,000 sqm, Icad is UAE’s largest inland freight railway terminal. It comprises over 22 buildings and major structures to support operations, processing up to nine trains each day. Etihad Rail will provide logistics solutions from the railway terminal to serve the growing number of industrial companies in the area. (ben)
