UK carrier delivers cement to infrastructure projects

GB Railfreight in the UK has transact a seven-year deal with Hanson Cement for railfreight services from the Ketton cement works in Rutland and the Ribblesdale cement works in Lancashire to terminals in London, Bristol and Glasgow.

The carrier will operate on average nine trains a week transporting cement in tank wagons that will support major construction projects in London as well as the development of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.

The deal is a continuation of the partnership between the UK’s third largest rail freight operator and Hanson and will help to reduce carbon emissions and congestion on the road network by shifting cargo from road to rail. (ben)
