United African Feeder Line for sale

Investors have taken another interesting step in the shipping business: a Luxembourg investment fund is about to acquire the carrier United Africa Feeder Line (UAFL), according to news from Alphaliner.

The owners, Deutsche Afrika Linien (DAL)/John T Essberger Group (JTE), are selling their shares in the line they bought in 2011. UAFL has been operative since 2000; its fleet consists of five vessels ranging in capacity from 600 to 2,268 teu.

With its own management and own brand, UAFL operates in the Indian Ocean, linking South Asia and the Far East with ports on Africa's east coast, from South Africa via Mozambique to Tanzania and the islands of the Seychelles, Madagascar, Mayotte and the Comoros. (cd)
