US-made locos to carry coal in Australia

Bowen Rail has received its first state-of-the-art locomotives arriving through the Port of Townsville in Northern Australia. The locos will be used to transport coal for Bravus Mining & Resources Carmichael Mine. Bowen Rail’s fleet of locomotives are fresh out of Caterpillar's Progress Rail business in USA and are the most technologically advanced freight locomotives Australia has ever seen, the company said.

The arrival of the locomotives marks yet another milestone for the new regional rail company as the business prepares for operations. Bowen Rail recently announced the construction of a new rail yard as part of the company's long term operating plan. Completion of the yard is not required to start operation. (ben)
