                        US short line railroad to serve new steel mill
The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) is investing USD 750,000 to assist the construction of a new rail spur and onsite loading, unloading and storage tracks to serve a mini steel mill which steel manufacturer Nucor is constructing in Davidson County, North Carolina (USA). The rail modifications will increase activity by 2,000 additional rail cars each year.
Nucor is investing USD 350 million in its new facility. NCRR is a private corporation whose voting stock is owned by the state of North Carolina. The company manages the use of 510 km of track and property stretching from Charlotte to the Port of Morehead City. (ben)
