US short line railroads to improve infrastructure

TNW Corporation has received grants for two of its US short line railroads. The federal railroad administration (FRA) has awarded USD 4.1 to Texas North Western Railway (TXNW) to reconfigure and improve its interchange facility in Sunray, Texas.

The project will create a new interchange by combining two adjacent four-track yards in TXNW’s Fisher yard complex into a single yard that is capable of servicing substantially larger trains for its customers and interchange partner, BNSF Railway.

A grant of USD 220,000 has been awarded to Texas, Gonzales and Northern Railway (TXGN) to expand service efficiency and handling capacity in the railway’s interchange point with the Union Pacific Railroad’s Glidden subdivision in Harwood, Texas. (ben)
