Volumes at DPW still growing

It’s a rare occurrence nowadays. Dubai’s port and free zone operator DP World kept the pace in 9M/2022 and recorded a 2% gain in container volumes across its network worldwide. Handled volumes amounted to 59.6 million teu. Q3/2022 still contributed 20.1 million teu to this total, an upswing of 1.5% compared to Q3/2021.

Besides the flagship Jebel Ali, which reported having handled volumes of 3.5 million teu in Q3/ 2022 (+2%), DP World also mentioned the strong throughput performance in Qingdao (China), ATI in the Philippines, LCIT (Thailand) and Jeddah.

At a consolidated level in 9M/2022, the group's terminals handled 34.6 million teu, up 1.9% year-on-year and up 1.4% on a like-for-like-basis.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO: "Growth in the third quarter was primarily driven by a solid performance across our Asia-Pacific, Americas and Australia terminals. Overall, given the solid nine-month volume performance, we expect to deliver an improved set of full-year results." (sh)
