Wonderful period for Walker Logistics

Family-owned UK third-party logistics provider Walker Logistics witnessed a particularly impressive throughput increase in November and December last year.

In these months, which included the online sales event Black Friday and Christmas, the online fulfilment company saw a 23% increase in the number of e-commerce orders picked, packed and dispatched at its Berkshire logistics hub compared to the same period in 2020.

2021’s throughput leap is special given that Walker’s online order fulfilment business also witnessed unprecedented growth (+317%) during the same period twelve months earlier.

“Given the size of 2020’s order spike - which coincided with the boom in internet shopping brought about by Covid lockdown regulations that had forced high street shops to close - we are delighted to be able to announce further year-on-year growth,” says Charlie Walker, Walker Logistics’ head of marketing.

Currently, Walker is building a new 38,000 sqm warehouse on land adjacent to its existing 70,000 sqm multi-user fulfilment facility. The works are due to be completed by the end of 2022. (sh)
