Workshop services 25 locomotives per week

DB Cargo continues to invest in its site in Halle, Germany, where the German railfreight company has set up and inaugurated a EUR 26 million workshop for line and shunting locomotives.

The workshop has six working stations. 75 employees make sure that 25 locomotives of DB Cargo and other railway companies are checked, serviced and repaired per week.

The Halle railway junction plays an important role in the German and European railfreight networks. For example, at a cost of EUR 180 million, the new train formation system was put into service in the summer of 2018, and the EUR 600 million upgrade of the inner rail hub was completed in January 2021. The locomotive workshop in Halle was originally opened in 1915. (ben)
