The logistics of drinks is rather delicate matter. In Thailand recently, Pernod Ricard awarded Ceva Logistics a contract it had tendered for in January 2020. One of the key services of the deal involves improved warehousing in Bang Na district of Bangkok.

We have to admit – the two partners pictured here aren’t the ones in the news today, but rather the fathers of a merger that created the French label Pernod Ricard in 1975; that is Jean Hemard and Paul Ricard. Their company recently signed a five-year contract with CMA CGM subsidiary Ceva Logistics, which will now provide warehousing as well as distribution services for the drinks firm’s products in Southeast Asia.

Pernod Ricard is one of the largest vendors of alcoholic drinks worldwide. Ceva will now organise the corporation’s customs brokerage and import haulage in Thailand, as well as a combination of standard duty-paid and bonded-warehouse management, domestic transport, a range of value-adding services, including tax stamping, warning labelling, gift box options and re-packing services.

Bonded warehouse; last-mile delivery

The French logistics service provider’s offer from January 2020 won thanks also to the re-organisation of the shipper’s logistics facilities. It was based on the conversion of Ceva’s multi-user site in Bangkok’s Bang Na district. The 7,600 m² facility is now completely dedicated to handling Pernod Ricard’s goods.

The new Pernod Ricard / Ceva site complies with all of the criteria laid down by the good manufacturing practices standard (GMP). It offers both a duty-paid and a bonded warehouse under one roof. Last-mile delivery options represent yet another element of the collaboration agreement with Pernod Ricard.

The new contract has further extended an existing Ceva contract with Pernod Ricard in the Philippines, and is expected to pave the way for future collaboration in other countries. Ceva expects to manage an annual throughput of no less than approximately 19 million bottles of liquor and spirits from a total of 26 brands of liquor, champagne and wines sold by Pernod Ricard.
