Dear readers,

Our neighbour Germany was rarely as set of late for a new start as now. But we’ll leave the assessment of a complicated political situation to others, and rather enjoy the international logistics industry’s good economic prospects. According to Nuremberg-based GfK, amongst others, they’re set to be as good as never before in Germany in the last 18 months, thanks also to a positive consumer mood. There’d be (almost) nothing barring the path to human happiness if good citizens were to stop grumbling about lorries and trains, and stop their Cassandrian prophecies concerning the shipping industry’s emissions figures, and remembered that their Amazon or Zalando clicks fill the containers and fuel the transport and logistics industry.

For many of us the item at the very top of our lists, however, is to enjoy face-to-face meetings again after 18 months of abstinence. The German Logistics Congress (20 – 22 October) will once again provide us with this opportunity. The congress motto is “Chancen nutzen – Adapt to Lead”. In the ITJ’s third language I’d like to add an“à la bonne heure!” to that. Here’s to meeting up soon in the capital of coalitions.

Cordially yours,
Christian Doepgen
