Dear readers,
The issue you are holding in your hands is being published on Germany’s national day. However, the included Germany special, which informs you about the most important developments in the country’s transport and logistics industry from page 26 onwards, is being published for a different reason: from 22 to 24 October, the German Logistics Association is hosting the BVL Supply Chain CX in Berlin. We look forward to meeting the industry’s decision-makers there.
The contributions in the special reflect current challenges and strategies in the industry – from fluctuating logistics indicators and new terminal projects to the resilience of military supply lines. After all, security and logistics are becoming increasingly interlinked (p. 12).
A second focus is on Germany’s western neighbour and Switzerland. France’s role as a logistics location is in a state of flux: while ID Logistics and Puma are preparing to launch a robot-assisted logistics centre of the future near Strasbourg (p. 25), insolvencies in national freight transport are making negative headlines (p. 24).
The Astre network, which is active throughout Europe, provides a different picture of France, showing on p. 7 how medium-sized freight forwarders can achieve more sustainable solutions through cooperation and shared experience. Climate protection works better together.
So there is plenty to talk about – and not just in Berlin. We wish you an insightful read.
