Pharma logistics hub at LYS from next summer
The work is continuing. After the inauguration of the new DHL Express gateway in Lyon, WFS announced that it will open a 25,000 sqm multipurpose cargo terminal at Lyon Saint Exupéry airport (LYS) in summer 2026, under a 20-year lease.
Located in the 'CargoPort', the site includes 4,400 sqm of GDP-compliant cold chain space for pharma and perishables. With 36 dock doors and direct runway access, the site strengthens WFS’s position in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the world’s leading vaccine-producing area.
It will consolidate WFS’s Lyon operations and generate more than 300 jobs. The facility will operate in the global SATS/WFS network and meet Breeam 'very good' standards, featuring a photovoltaic roof and EV infrastructure. Partners include em2c, Prologis and Aéroports de Lyon. (ah)
